Bosch 1617EVSPK Plunge and Fixed Base Router Review

Amplify’d from routerbitset.org

If you are using templates or dovetail fixtures there is a template guide that you can purchase separately to ensure that the bit is centered. I like the quick clamp release (no need for tools) which allows you to switch the motor easily between fixed base and plunge base and the fixed base has threaded holes to allow easy and secure mounting on your router table.

Cons

I have a couple of quibbles with this Bosch router kit-

1)    Doing close tolerance work will require an additional base center

2)    A little wobble when using it in plunge with the bit moving a fraction from side to side.

Pros

This router is very versatile, good value for money and the carrying case is excellent with plenty of room for commonly used bits. I really like the wood handles also and the plunge base allows you to keep both hands on the router with an easy to reach lock.
